Troops ambush female Tigers

Troops ambushed a patrol of six women terrorists in the Lindugala area East of Aralaganwila on Wednesday killing all of them. Five T 56 assault rifles, an intercom radio and a compass, they were using were taken into custody.

Meanwhile more refugees fleeing continued LTTE harassment have been arriving at armed services checkpoint, a media release of the army said yesterday. The total number which crossed over to the cleared areas around Batticaloa rose to 124 on Wednesday as another group of 19 - 5 women, 10 children, and 4 men walked up to the checkpoint at Mankerni.

Seventeen more, 8 men and 8 women with an infant crossed over to Mukkarayankulam 25, km South East of Mannar last week.
