'Pride of the South' docks at KKS The troop carrier "MV Pride of the South" put in at the Kankesanturai harbour on Sunday evening 12 hours after a Sea Tiger suicide attack. Fifty eight service personnel among the 1200 soldiers it was ferrying from Trincomalee to Kankesanturai, were injured. The attack was foiled by a Sri Lankan Navy escort of coastal patrol craft - a fleet of fast attack Dvoras. The Navy lost one of its boats and 11 men, and 19 were injured. The Special Media Information Centre reported that the LTTE is believed to have lost 15 of its cadres including 2 servicemen. Three of he enemy boats were sunk and four were disabled, and towed away by the LTTE as it disengaged from the battle after more than two hours. |
