Airlines to return: insurance surcharge withdrawn by Ranga Kalansooriya London based mega insurance underwriters Lloyds yesterday informed the Sri Lankan
Government that they decided to withdraw the additional insurance surcharge imposed last
week on Colombo bound flights. The Lloyds' decision follows a meeting they had with the
Sri Lankan High Commissioner in London Mangala Moonesinghe Tuesday evening. Thousands participate in SriLankaFirst by Ranga Jayasuriya Hundreds of thousands of Sri Lankans yesterday took to the streets in a public appeal
for peace for this island nation torn apart by a long running civil war. Thousands of
office and factory workers, disabled soldiers, students and teachers lined busy
thoroughfares of Colombo and its suburbs demanding that the politicians of all parties
work together for a peaceful solution to the ethnic problem. Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake has directed the Food Department to purchase
flour directly from the Prima (Ceylon) Ltd, in a bid to control the rising price of flour,
