NDB opens its 12th branch in Chilaw

The Chilaw branch of the National Development Bank was formally opened by NDB's Deputy General Manager, Nihal Welikala, on the 22nd of October, extending NDB's network of offices to 12. Chilaw is a fast developing commercial centre and the opening of NDB is expected to give an added impetus to the economic growth of the region.

The Chilaw branch will offer medium to long-term project loans, working capital and leasing facilities for business enterprises. The branch will also operate special lending schemes such as SMILE, The Perennial Crop Development Project (PCDP), and environmentally Friendly Project (E-Friends). The branch will also focus on providing finance and advisory support to small and medium scale industries, through SMILE credit lines.

M.F.M. Fakir, Manager Chilaw Branch, said "We are very excited about our prospects in Chilaw. We found that lots of business people and industrialists from this area were going all the way to our Negombo or Puttalam branches to get facilities from NDB. Now those financial facilities and more will be available at their doorstep."

Nihal Welikala, Deputy General Manager of NDB, formally opens the Bank's newest branch in Chilaw. A.L. Somaratne, AGM, SMI & branch banking and Fakir, Manager of Chilaw Branch were present.
