People will give PA another term - Kesaralal

by Gamini Rupananda

People of this country are willing to give another term for the PA to solve the raging problems the country is facing today, SLFP Chief Organiser Kesaralal Gunasekera said.

"Therefore, the voters of the Ratmalana electorate should vote for the PA to enable us to form a stable Government which would address all burning issues in the country."

He was addressing the Ratmalana electorate SLFP women's committee meeting held at Ratmalana Kamkaru Sewana hall. He said, the opposition and their supporters should think that the President has received public mandate for six years. During the past period the PA Government has carried out a large number of development projects throughout the country despite massive war expenditure which no past government could accomplish in the political history of the country.

Nearly 1000 representatives from PA Women's Organisations in Ratmalana, Mount Lavinia and Dehiwala areas attended the meeting.

Mr. Gunasekera said voters of this country are willing to give another term for the People's Alliance to solve the acute problems facing the country today. Therefore, the voters of the Ratmalana electorate should vote for the PA to enable us to form a Government which will address the burning problems of the people. PA under the leadership of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga had spent millions of rupees on various development projects.

PA Candidate Mr. Gunasekera who predicted an easy victory for the PA at the forthcoming election with the minimum degree of commitment said however that they should move with the voters more closely in order to make them understand the factors which thrust this unwanted election on them.

Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs, Jeevan Kumaratunga said the forthcoming General Election has a special significance over previous elections held in this country because it is aimed to save the country and democracy from the hands of political racketeers and robbers. It is the duty of left leaders especially to educate the people about this matter.

Deputy Minister of Housing and Construction Susil Premajayantha said that those who betrayed the people's mandate by crossing over to the opposition will not win a single electorate and even now they find it difficult to conduct their election campaign because both PA and UNP supporters in rural areas are opposing the campaign.

Mayor of Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia and PA candidate for the Colombo District Jayaratna Perera, members of the Western Provincial Council Asoka Lankatilake and Kirthi Udawatta also spoke.
