Interim Administration in NE recognition of LTTE - D.M. Jayaratne

IPeople's Alliance General Secretary D.M.Jayaratne in a special statement warns the public that the handing over of an interim administration in the North East to the LTTE tantamount to an inevitable governmental legal recognition of a ruling power to the LTTE.

He reminds the people of the EPRLF unilaterally declaring an independent state in the North East after winning a provincial administration under Jayawardena regime and says that on that occasion the Indian Peace Keeping Force had to be invited to curb that situation.

He says that the ongoing Elephant Tiger dance is a prelude to the UNP's power hungry betrayal of the motherland for the purpose of fulfilling the ambitions of the LTTE through a Tamil Alliance. On the other hand, he says that the endeavour of the People's Alliance is to find a lasting solution to the North East problem through negotiation based on mutual understanding and trust while facing the war strongly.

He assures that the People's Alliance will never permit a division of the country even at the cost of their lives. In the name of the nation he appeals to the UNP not to deprive the future generation of its right to the motherland and urges the politically enlightened people to join the People's Alliance under the iron leadership of President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga at the forthcoming General Election.
