Assistance to needy children

by Kegalle special correspondent

The Social Development Foundation, affiliated to Warakapola Pradeshiya Sabha, has scheduled to provide assistance for poverty striken school goers in that locality with equipment needed for their education.

This scheme of assisting the poor children in the area was initiated at Tulhiriya Kanishta Vidyalaya based on the 'Saak-shara Program'.

The Deputy Manager of the Samurdhi Program Mrs. M. T. Ranasinghe was present at the occasion where hundreds of children in eighty eight poor families were distributed with various items these children need in their studies and schooling.

The presentation of similar items of necessities for poor school children will be continued at all times and will be extended to other areas.

Mrs. Ranasinghe states that these benefits were provided so far only by the PA government in this manner to the poverty striken families and that this mode of assistance to the poor school children has brought about a great relief for their parents, and a convenience for the teachers in the task of imparting education.
