election a result of a political conspiracy by UNP and Tamil parties -
Anura Bandaranaike
by Attanagalla Special Correspondent Former Speaker and Gampaha District PA Leader Anura Bandaranaike addressing Gampaha District SLFP Trade Union activists said that former MP Joseph Pararajsingham after handing over nominations for Batticaloa district had stated that they want to make Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Prime Minister of this country. What has the UNP privately or secretly offered the LTTE in return for this special favour, Bandaranaike queried. The voters throughout the country should know that, he said. Addressing the meeting held at Siyane College of Education auditorium he further said that other than the EPDP all the other Tamil political parties have arrived at a MOU with the UNP. Ranil Wickremesinghe has not uttered a word of criticism against the LTTE he said. This election is a result of the political conspiracy perpetrated by the UNP and the Tamil parties acting according to the dictates of the LTTE leader Prabhakaran, Bandaranaike said. SLFP joint Trade Union Committee's Convenor Alavi Mowlana urged working
people to be vigilant at the forthcoming general election and not to vote
for the UNP which caused the July 80 strikers to be out of employment. In
the event of UNP coming to power again they will ruin the benefits that
the PA has given them Mowlana said.
