will not allow superpowers to hold country's economy to ransom - Wimal
Weerawansa
JVP Propaganda Secretary Wimal Weerawansa emphasised that his party would not allow the foreign superpowers to hold the country's economy to ransom and that a JVP government would introduce drastic economic reforms through which the numerous economic burdens could be solved. Wimal Weerawansa made these comments at a JVP election rally held at Kaduwela last Tuesday. Weerawansa said during the past 24 years both the UNP and the JVP has dangled, with the economy so much so that the unemployment issue has grown up by leaps and bounds and it is only the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna that can revive the tottering economy. He said the JVP's Nation Building Program was drawn with the aim of developing the country on several fronts including on how to successfully conclude the North East war by militarily defeating the separatist elements and their reactionary forces in the South. The JVP Publicity Secretary noted that the UNP was hell-bent on bringing the LTTE to the Parliament in addition to several other agreements such as the lifting of the LTTE ban and the withdrawal of thousands of troops from the battle front to the South. He advised the people not to fall into the trap laid by the UNP and
join forces with the JVP to usher in a decent political culture whereby
Sri Lanka would be able to stand on her own feet instead of having to go
behind the so-called world superpowers for their aid and other related
relief measures.
