'Aim of UNP to protect rights'

The production speed will be increased upto seven per cent within one year as a solution for unemployment problems after the UNP comes into power, said Ananda Thripathi Kumara, UNP candidate for the Matara District.

He was speaking at a discussion of provincial journalists held at Akuressa.

"The UNP has planned to start various development projects for the improvement of the economy and also to uplift the living standards of the people".

"The aim of the UNP is to protect the people's rights demoracacy and improve the country's economy that was ruined during the last seven years.

Speaking further, he said that the UNP was the only Democratic Party that could solve the country's burning problems such as unemployement, rising cost of living and the economic crisis.
