Consider good work by PA to hillcountry - A. P. Kanapathipillai

by P. Rajaratnam in Nuwara Eliya

A. P. Kanapathipillai, the PA candidate for Nuwara Eliya district, addressing election meetings at Ragala and Maturata areas said, the vast strides of development, in relation to housing, school buildings, and other infra-structure works around the hill country plantations and other districts by the People's Government was a lasting monument for the up and coming generations in the Hill country. He said President Chandrika Bandaranaike and her Government were concerned and mindful of the Estate Workers from the time she assumed office.

Kanapathipillai said the present Government never paid lip-service to satisfy a section of the masses, but held the scale evenly for all communities irrespective of community bias or on parochial thinking. He warned the voters particularly in the hill country not to fall prey to those in the UNP leadership, who were only concerned of the plantation workers during an election in the country.

He said the plantation workers and the educated lot in the hillcountry, should assess the situations and take into consideration the good work done by the PA Government and its leadership, and vote for the party, of which he was fully confident. The PA Government will be returned to power once again and President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga would continue to be the President.

He said today the UNPers were going round the country throwing monies to buy votes, but he appealed to the estate workers not to become so cheap, but prove what this section of the community was self-reliant, and had dignity, and that they could decide on matters on their own assessments.

H. M. Dharmadasa, a PA organiser for the area said that the Sinhala people had great trust and confidence on Kanapathipillai, who possessed all the qualifications needed. The majority community in the country and in the district should consider him as one of them.
