professional's forum pledge support to PA
by Uditha Kumarasinghe "Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs have joined hands to set up a forum to pledge their support for a PA victory. The "SLFP Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs Forum" is the latest organisation formed last week in collaboration with a large number of professionals and entrepreneurs in key business and industry sectors, SLFP Youth Federation Treasurer and PA National List Candidate Chandima Weerakkody told the Daily News. "Over one thousand professionals and entrepreneurs have already joined the forum and a large number of professionals are due to obtain membership within the coming few weeks, he said. Meanwhile, a national level SLFP Youth Convention was held at the President's House recently. Nearly 5000 SLFP youth representing each Grama Niladari Division participated, he said. "A SLFP Youth Federation was also formed at this convention. This would be the first time a national level SLFP youth convention has been held". "At present, attempts are being made by the UNP to grab power in collaboration with several business racketeers. During the 17 years of the UNP regime, youth did not have the right, even to live. There was a vital need to safeguard the rights of youth by providing them due recognition in society. The Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs Forum and the Youth Federation were set up as a remedy." The Youth Federation will send letters to SLFP Youth organisations at
each electoral level and they will be summoned to Colombo for a briefing
on the PA election campaign. In addition one young orator will address
each major PA election rally educating countrywide youth on Government
policies, Chandima Weerakkody said.
