public servants. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga on Sunday challenged UNP Leader Ranil
Wickremesinghe to remove three main UNP candidates accused of murder from the election
fray. The Pensions Commission has recommended an immediate adjustment to the existing
pensions to ensure that the real value of the existing pension is not eroded. Ranil promises to lift LTTE ban UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe says that if a satisfactory response is
received in preliminary negotiations with the LTTE, he is prepared to consider the removal
