Deputy Minister complains against military police

Deputy Minister of Education and Higher Education Anura Priyadarshana Yapa had complained to Army Commander Lt.General Lionel Balagalle yesterday that the UNP candidate for Kurunegala District Upali Dassanayake is using Military Police personnel in Katugampola area for election violence.

He alleged that Upali Dassanayake's brother is a senior Military Police officer and he is using his subordinate officers to unleash violence in the area. These officers are equipped with latest military hardware and are threatening people in the area.

"I have also received information that they have plotted to kill me and few of my supporters prior to the election. They have fired at one of my jeeps in Pannala area and had burnt it on Sunday", he said.

the Minister requests from the Army Commander to protect him and his supporters lives and ensure a free and fair election.
