Singapore Red Cross raises 579,000 dollars for Afghan refugees SINGAPORE, Dec 6 (AFP) - The Singapore Red Cross Society has raised 1.06 million Singapore dollars (579,000 US) to help Afghan refugees, it said Thursday. More than 671,000 Singapore dollars of the amount has already been sent to the International Red Cross to help refugees in the war-torn Central Asian nation, the organisation said in a statement. The money was used to buy items including tents and cooking equipment for the refugees, it said. |
