LTTE should give up Eelam before talks, says JVP The JVP has sent the following correction with reference to our news story with the above title which appeared on page 12 of our issue of December 28, 2001. "In that news item certain sentences were translated using the term "minority party" which means (in Sinhala) "..........." In that particular press release we have used the Sinhala words "......" which is normally translated into English as "Communalist party". As People's Liberation Front, we see it may mislead readers to use minority party instead of Communalist party. This is a very sensitive theme and a topic of utmost importance for the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim citizens of this country. As a political party which holds the responsibility to secure the democratic rights and equality of Sri Lankans for any community we must point out and correct this incorrect interpretation and false understanding which may have been already given to Daily News readers of press and internet editions." |
