A herd of elephants in search of fodder on an open field at the Wasgomuwa National Park. The rainy season in the area has seen an abundance of wildlife within the Wasgomuwa Park with the elephants opting to stay within the nature reserve. An electric fence to keep away the elephants from entering nearby villages bordering this 84,000 hectare nature reserve which was the last to be declared a national park. (Pictures by Pravin Mendis)

SAARC Summit delayed

The inaugural session of the 11th Summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Corporation which was scheduled to be held last evening was postponed due to the delay in arrival of Pakistani President General Pervez Musharaff.
