by Anura Maitipe People in this country could never forget late S.W.R.D Bandaranaike who was behind the 1956 revolution in the country.This paved the way for rural youth to enter high positions which had been enjoyed earlier only by the elite class, Sathkorale Chief Sanghanayake Walamitiyawe Dhamma Kitta Nayaka Thera said at the 103rd commemoration of the S.W.R.D.Bandranaike birth anniversary held at Galle Face yesterday. Sunetra Devi Parivenadipathi Madagoda Sumanatissa Nayaka Thera said that, S.W.R.D Bandaranaike was a profound humanist with rare qualities and he always thought of the well being of poor masses and sacrificed his own life for the worthy cause of giving equal opportunity for all communities in the country. The SLFP Party Secretary,Maithripala Sirisena said late leader Mr. Bandaranaike crossed over from the UNP and formed a party with a new vision to safeguard the rights of the poor masses in the country and he taught us to go forward. Even during the recent election, over 3.3 million people have endorsed his vision and we will work toward this goal to meet the aspirations of the common masses. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga offered Pirikara to the Maha Sangha. Sunethra Bandaranaike, Bandaranaike family members, Parliamentarians, and a large numbers of party supporters participated. The vote of thanks was proposed by former Deputy Minister Alavi Mowlana and seconded by PA General Secretary D.M Jayaratne. |
