The role of social forestry in the village economy by Ravi Ladduwahetty Sri Lanka had a surfeit of natural forests which have been felled over
a period of time. Population pressures and agricultural production have
been the cause of this malady from British times. These forests were a
source of livelihood for people living below the poverty line who have
been further oppressed due to absence of vital vegetation which sustained
