No STF officer has been defeated in battle - commandant

by Kalutara group correspondent

The Special Task Force (STF) which was started 19 years ago with only 75 police officers has developed into a force of over 5,000 officers dedicated to the service they are expected to render and are so well disciplined that no officer in this force has been defeated by the LTTE in battle so far, said DIG Nimal Gunatilaka STF commandant.

He was addressing a passing out parade of the 44th group of Special Task Force (STF) 133 trainees held at the Katukurunda STF training wing Kalutara recently. He further said that he requested the new cadre of the 44th group who completed their training to follow the last 43 groups in their discipline and profound training. You all have received the same training and other disciplinary methods which are expected to be followed in your daily routine of work, he said.

He emphasised "it is your duty to follow them and I expect that you will never fail in doing so, you will be required in the performance of your duties to join the forces in North-East as well as in Colombo and also to be attached to the security services of the VIPPs such as the government ministers he said.

"You are not expected to consider the difference of caste, creed or ethnic differences, such as Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim, he stated.
