President has no bar to access Parliament by our Parliament Correspondent Speaker Joseph Micheal Perera yesterday said that there was no bar on the President from access into Parliament as any other Minister or MP. The speaker also observed that as custodian of the House, he were in total charge of its security while the maintenance of security was the sole responsibility of the Parliament Police. He said he had instructed the DIG in charge of parliament security to furnish him with a report in connection with the point of order raised on Wednesday by Kandy district UNP MP Mrs. Chitra Srimathi Monthilaka about the presence in parliament that day of the President escorted by a phalanx of bodyguards. |
