'Jobs for youth, key issue' by Kegalle special correspondent In declaring open an office in Kegalle the Minister of North - west Region Development Jayatilake Podinilame, Kegalle district Member of Parliament said, that the main issue of the period is to find more employment for the youth of this country, to which only lip-service had been paid during the past seven years. In order to solve this problem employment generating industries will be started country wide, by the present government and initial talks with the foreign entrepreneurs has already commenced in this respect. Unless an accelerated program is implemented early, the unemployed youths will become restless disgusted and disappointed and the result shall be a sort of insurrection once again in this country. A solution for the youths problems at this present juncture is an absolute necessity, as they need ways and means to solve their personal problems. It is proposed to start about 2000 industrial projects within a period of one year and it is the principal aim of the Ministry to accelerate the functioning of these projects early to usher in quick results said, Minister Jayatilake Podinalame. Already discussions are on the move with a number of foreign interested organisations to start these projects. |
