HNB wins international award for fifth time Hatton National Bank Limited (HNB) won another international award as its Annual Report for the year 1999 was adjudged as the 'Best Presented Accounts' in the Financial Sector category at the competition held by the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA). HNB has won this award for five consecutive years and the awards ceremony was held recently in Goa, India. The award was received by B.K. Achan, the Chief Representative Officer of Hatton National Bank, Chennai Office. The competition is organised by the SAFA, which is a recognised accounting body of the SAARC, countries comprising India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, to recognise excellence in the published Annual Reports of companies. Whilst the awards won by participants have helped to enhance their image in the business community, the competition set many challenges and requires a great deal of commitment from the participants a bank spokesman said. HNB has also maintained its consistency by winning several awards at the competition to recognise excellence in financial reporting organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) as well. The report, which won the award at the SAFA competition, also secured the overall Runner Up award for the 'Best Corporate Report and Accounts - 2000' in the competition organised by the ICASL. The report was also adjudged as the winner in the category of Banking Institutions he said. HNB recognises that the Annual Report and Accounts is the best media through which the Bank can demonstrate their performance to stakeholders in financial and non-financial terms and invest considerable resources in producing high quality Annual Report incorporating relevant historical data, current and future trends, operational ratios, graphs, charts and photographs. |
