facilitators and the two parties to the conflict, the Government and the
LTTE, a historic breakthrough has been achieved which will culminate in
the signing of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement between the
Government and the LTTE. Government maps areas of consensual politics by Anura Maitipe and Ranil Wijayapala The Government has focused its attention on changing the political
culture from confrontational politics to consensual politics by agreeing
to work with the Opposition on four major issues to usher long lasting
peace in the country. Constitutional Council will be established to introduce Police and
Elections commissions before the next local government elections Cabinet
Spokesman and Minister Prof G.L. Peiris told the weekly Cabinet press
