Talks within three months

Peace talks between the Government and the LTTE will commence within three months of D Day,February 23, 2002 when the Ceasefire Agreement between the Government and the LTTE came into effect, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told a packed news conference at the Government Information Department auditorium at Narahenpita yesterday morning.

Lohan and Chanuka remanded till March 4

The two main suspects of the Udatalawinna murder case Lohan and Chanuka Ratwatte - sons of Gen.Anuruddha Ratwatte were remanded till March 4 by the Teldeniya Magistrate (Miss) Preethi Inoka Ranasinghe when the suspects were produced before her yesterday.

The Presidential Secretariat yesterday refuted the statement by Cabinet spokesman Prof. G. L. Peiris to the media that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Government and the LTTE was discussed at two cabinet meetings.
