Ransilu set new record by our Kandy sports correspondent Fifteen year old Ransilu Jayatillake continued his record breaking feats in weight lifting when he created three Junior National records at the Junior Weight Lifting trials for the Junior Asian Weight Lifting champions which was held at the University Gymnasium, Peradeniya over the weekend. Ransilu Jayatillake who is a grade 11 student at Kingswood College competed in the under 16 age group and lifted 100 kgs in the Snatch and 125 kgs in the Clean and Jerk making a total of 225 kgs which lowered the existing marks of Snatch 90 kgs, Clean and Jerk 120 kgs and total 210 kgs. The total weight lifted is also the highest ever by a junior lifter in Sri Lanka in the under 16 age category. |
