Parore's Test place in doubt AUCKLAND, Friday 28 (Reuters) - New Zealand wicketkeeper Adam Parore has been overlooked by his provincial side Auckland, lessening the chances of him playing in the test series against England. Parore, who has played 75 tests for New Zealand since making his debut in 1990, announced last week he was taking a break from cricket because of fatigue. The long-serving gloveman said he was not retiring and confirmed he was available for the test series against England. New Zealand announce their squad for the first of a three-test series against England on March 8. After Parore was left out of Auckland's side to play Central Districts, New Zealand's chairman of selectors Richard Hadlee said the matter was out of his hands. "It is now a matter for New Zealand Cricket and is in the hands of the chief executive Martin Snedden," Hadlee said on Thursday. "I'd like to be more helpful but the matter has now been taken out of our (the selectors) hands." Auckland Cricket chief executive Lindsay Crocker said: "There is no place for him. He has not been available for Auckland since returning from Australia and indicated ... he was not available for the rest of the season. "He's been unwilling to play for us and we have got a championship to win. He indicated he was exhausted with the game and we can fully understand that, but we have a settled side and the selectors believed they needed players who were firmly committed to the cause of winning the title." Crocker said Parore was informed of the selectors' decision on Wednesday. "He was very disappointed, but understood our position," he said. |
