Indian tariff reduction, a boost to our exports

The Indian Government has reduced tariff barriers on Sri Lankan imports from 50 percent to 90 percent on products in the residual list in its 2002/2003 budget effective March 1, which will propel exports of 4561 Sri Lankan products to that country.

Lankan President should make Agreement a success - Australian PM

Australian Prime Minister and Commonwealth Chairman John Howard yesterday said that Sri Lankan President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga should be responsible for making the cease-fire agreement, which was signed between the government and the LTTE two weeks ago, a success.
