Lanka Trade Centre opened in Dubai Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Ravi Karunanayake opened the Sri Lanka Trade Centre at the Premadasa General Trading premises in Dubai on March 24. The Trade Centre will function at two levels to promote Sri Lankan products and services. Display space has been provided for various products. The Trade Centre will also be a manufaturer's representative office for the region. Some of the services being offered by the Sri Lanka trade centre are to co-ordinate and facilitate easier trade access for Sri Lankan companies, provision of secretarial services here and in Colombo, Marketing Consultancy, Advertising and Promotion. The Sri Lanka Trade Centre will also assist its members to participate in various trade fairs and exhibitions in the region. The Trade Centre will operate initially in a 4,000 sq. ft. state of the art display and information centre in Deira, Dubai. Premadasa General Trading the Dubai based operation of Premadasa Group in Sri Lanka is the local promoter and sponsor of this venture. The Premadasa Group of Companies has been serving various spheres of the business community in Sri Lanka for the past 59 years. Over the years, the company consolidated its business operations in Sri Lanka and in 1990 expanded overseas to Dubai. Within two years the company opened branches in Qatar and Tanzania in 1999 and 2000. In the Dubai operation, Premadasa Colour Scan serves the lower Gulf countries, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in addition to the UAE. The trading arm of the group was set up five years ago, primarily to promote and develop Sri Lankan products to the Middle East. |
