Government machinery on gear to open A9

All Government machinery has been geared to open A9 highway up to Jaffna on April 8. The Ministries of Defence, Rehabilitation and Transport and Highways are making a concentrated effort in collaboration with the UNDP and the ICRC to make this event a success, Government sources told the Daily News yesterday.

The five member team from the United States' Quick Reaction De-mining Force will go to Jaffna in a couple of days to begin their assessment on high priority de-mining goals in the peninsula. They will be assisted by Government authorities.
