SLMC dissolves Ampara committee

by Addalaichenai special correspondent, P.T. Iqbal

The working Committee of Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) for Ampara district was dissolved on Sunday midnight. By virtue of powers vested on the leader of the SLMC Minister of Ports Development, Shipping, Eastern Development and Muslim Religious Affairs, Rauff Hakeem dissolved this committee.

According to the Joint Secretary of this committee S.L.A. Rasheed, the Ampara District Working Committee of the SLMC was functioning for the last 10 years and although attempts were made to reorganise this committee for several occasions, it was futile. In order to strength on party activities and reorganise the district committee, this committee was dissolved.

The new committee will be formed within two weeks in terms of the party's constitution by appointing the rural level organisers. The last meeting of this committee was held at the auditorium of the Ports Development and Shipping Ministry on Sunday night under the auspices of the leader of SLMC, Minister Rauff Hakeem, Mr. Rasheed also said.
