'JVP has now corrected its mistakes'

by Tissamaharama special correspondent

As a party the JVP should never forget the people of Hambantota district because it was the people of Hambantota district who sent the first JVP member to Parliament, said the Chief Minister of Southern Province H. G. Sirisena at Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha auditorium where the newly elected Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha members and chairman took oaths.

The Chief Minister further said, "the JVP committed various mistakes and unruly activities in the past. But today they have corrected such mistakes and become a recognised political party.

"The Southern Provincial Council was promised with Rs. 3840 million by the government for this year. But it has got only Rs. 826.4 million. We cannot blame the government for this because of the financial crisis the government is facing.

"On this occasion I pledge every support of the Southern Provincial Council in disposing of the duties of the Tissamaharama Pradeshiya Sabha."

Hambantota district MP Nihal Galappaththy said that the JVP had given an assurance to the people of Tissamaharama to serve them without obtaining a red cent from the salaries allocated to the PS members.

The Chairman, Tissamaharama PS H. L. Jayasiri said that he was aware of the responsibilities he has been entrusted with and that he will dispose of his duties to the utmost satisfaction of the people in Tissamaharama PS area without any political bias.
