LTTE: A case for de-proscription

During the last 19 years, not only the LTTE, but also all other Tamil militant organizations have taken up arms against the state in one stage or another. The EPRLF, PLOTE, EROS and other militant organizations cannot refute this basic fact. However, although the LTTE was late to join the peace process, other Tamil organizations joined this process much earlier as they found that the armed struggle will not succeed in the end. The LTTE has fought the Sri Lankan armed forces in several battles and both sides have recorded significant victories and humiliating defeats.
