The operational Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence announces that the closing date for application to recruit soldiers to the regular service of the Sri Lanka Army has been extended from June 8 to June 22, 2002.

Unmarried citizens of Sri Lanka, between the age group of 18 to 24, 5 feet and 2 inches of minimum height who have passed two subjects including Sinhala or Tamil as a compulsory subject at GCE Ordinary Level Examination are eligible to apply.

The originals of certificates of education, birth certificate, school leaving certificate, a grama sevaka certificate obtained within six months, two character certificates and an acceptable identity card. (Passport or driving licence must be produced at the interview).
