Export development - An activist approach for higher growth by Lloyd F Yapa This paper attempts to analyse why exports are important for the Sri
Lankan economy, the export performance to-date from 1990 the reasons for
the absence of satisfactory results and the policies/strategies needed.
What prompted the preparation of this paper if the fact, that Sri Lanka
has opted for a neutral/passive approach (towards export development and
investment promotion since 1994) that is bound to result in a rather
