The price of a litre of petrol will go down by a further one rupee from today, on top of the Rs.6.50 reduction announced by the government last week. The new price is Rs.47.50 per litre. Diesel will cost seven rupees less per litre, with the new price being Rs.27.50. Kerosene prices will be down by 80 cents per litre. The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation said a further price reduction was made possible by a drop in world oil prices as the CPC now follows an automatic pricing formula. The original price reduction was made by the government after it decided not to levy a debt recovery charge from consumers. |
