Six boys homes at FONCA annual holiday

FONCA (Friends of Needy Children Association) a registered NGO, has planned a weeks' holiday in August this year, its tenth such venture! 65 boys, from six childrens' homes and institutions in Sri Lanka will participate.

This year, for the first time, the on-going peace process will enable boys from two homes in the Eastern Province to join in too and make it a truly multi-ethnic experience.

The venue at Anuradhapura, with its religious, cultural and historical significance, will give these boys the opportunity to visit the Sacred City (many for the first time) and enjoy its varied facets. A majority of these boys do not leave their institutions during their school holidays, as they have nowhere to go and nobody to take them. The holiday is supervised throughout by FONCA members, who are on hand to ensure that these underprivileged children have good food, fun and entertainment.

Visits to several places of interest in and around Anuradhapura have been planned.

Caretakers appointed by each institution see to the individual care and welfare of their boys.

Despite the ever spiralling cost of living, sponsorship for a child, remains at the original level of Rs. 500 each. It will be appreciated, if you could sponsor once or more boys on this holiday and help brighten the otherwise drab and humdrum lives of these unfortunate children.
