Hindu Anpaham at Vavuniya The Hindu Anpaham, an orphanage now caring for over 50 orphaned children was established at the 2nd Mile Post, Veppankulam Vavuniya by SrilaSri Sivasubramania Swamigal in 1997. The Swamigal had ambitious plans to improve the facilities to care for more children orphaned by war. The foundation was laid and the work completed was up to almost the DPC level when the Swami attained Samadhi in year 2000. This brought the building process to a halt. The children, thereafter are being cared for by two of his deciples, states S. A. Thiagarajah on behalf of the orphanage, Hindu Anpaham. In January 2001 the construction process was re-started single handedly by a well-known social worker and the Managing Partner of Pattakannus in Colombo. The fruit of the dedication is the imposing new building with all facilities. At the tail end of construction a few benefactors volunteered to furnish and supply many items to complete all the requirements. The building rose fast together with a separate kitchen and then a dining hall. Now the Institution is able to care for a hundred orphaned children under ideal conditions. The building and all the other facilities are now complete with the grace of God and many generous benefactors. The Chief Custodian Ms. Jeyarani and her able assistant Ms. Aum Namasivayeswari work round the clock daily to care for the children but also fulfil all the demanding activities of the temple in the same premises. Mr. Sundaralingam, the founder of Anbu Illam at Trincomalee will send a few of his experienced disciples to care for the children at Hindu Anpaham. This will help Hindu Anpaham to care for the children even better. The foundation stone was laid by a child of Hindu Anpaham and the inauguration of the new building too will be by the same child of the Home. Children of Hindu Anpaham, children from Anbu Illam, Trincomalee and the children from Mother Teresa's Convent in Colombo performed on this occasion. Whilst thanking all benefactors for their assistance to complete the new building and for caring for these less fortunate children, Hindu Anpaham humbly appeals for volunteers to help with the chores and well-wishers to sponsor the children to enable these orphaned children, the future of Sri Lanka, to become productive citizens of Mother Sri Lanka. |
