10-years of export excellence : Bodyline and Imperial Teas win top NCE Awards by Pelham Juriansz Bodyline (Private) Limited won the Gold Award for the Most Outstanding Exporter while Imperial Tea Exports (Pvt) Ltd won the Gold Award for the Best Sri Lankan Brand Exporter at the 10th National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) Awards ceremony at the Colombo Hilton last Friday. The runner-up in the Most Outstanding Exporter category was Lanka Fastener Limited which bagged the Silver Award. Deepthi Jewellery won the Gold award in the Gems and Jewellery sector. The Lion Award for the Most Value Added and Innovative Product went to Islandwide Suppliers (Pvt) Ltd. The Best Woman Exporter Award went to Orchid Agencies (Pvt) Ltd while Selyn Exporters (Private) Ltd and Kandygs Handlooms (Exports) Ltd won silver and bronze awards. The Most Outstanding Exporter - Agricultural sector-Traditional was won by Akbar Brothers Limited and non traditional by Ranfer International (Pvt) Ltd. Imperial Tea Exports (Pvt) Ltd also won the Gold award in the Agriculture Sector for Value Added Tea. German Ambassador, Juergen Elias was the Chief Guest which over 1,000 invitees. Kingsley Bernard, the Chairman of the Awards Committee, delivered the welcome address. He said that the awards for 2001 were given to honour outstanding personalities who showed much courage and determination throughout 2001. But in the end it is, in the words of a great philosopher, "Not whether you won or lost but how you played the game" that matters, he said. Patrick Amerasinghe, the President Emeritus and Immediate Past President of the NCE and Felix Yahampath the President of the NCE were present. |
