Engineers and planners should take pedestrian requirements into consideration when designing roads. There has been a spate of accidents involving pedestrians (several were fatal) recently, and the public is beginning to feel that the pedestrian's safety on the roads has been neglected over the years - a lapse that has now become alarmingly clear.
