203 anti-personnel mines recovered

A total of 203 Anti-personnel mines had been recovered from Colombuthurai, Matippankulam and Chemmanikulam in the Jaffna Peninsula and Marutamadu in Vavuniya from August 23 to 31.

Two soldiers were injured in anti-personnel mine explosions in Karaiyar and Wartuppalai in Jaffna, the Army said yesterday.

Troops have recovered 12 rounds of 122 artillery from the general area of Thandikulam in Vavuniya and one hand grenade from the general area of Veheragama in Ampara during the same period.
