Ceylinco, SembWM sign MoU: Waste water management services Lalith Kotelawala, Chairman of Ceylinco Consolidated and Ceylinco International Investments and Loh Wal Kiew (Ms), the President and Chief Executive Officer of SembCorp Waste Management Pte. Ltd. (SembWM), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on September 2, in Colombo to explore possibilities in offering waste management services together in Sri Lanka. Under the Memorandum of Understanding Ceylinco and SembWM will jointly address the Expression of Interest by a Cabinet appointed Negotiating Committee to provide Sri Lanka with an integrated and sustainable waste management system. In the recent past, waste management has become a critical issue particularly for Colombo, the suburbs and other major urban centres in the country. Unplanned disposal of all types of waste, including household, medical and other hazardous refuse has resulted in major environmental problems and a considerable constraint on the resources of local governments and Municipal Councils in the country. Ceylinco has the distinction of being the targets conglomerate in Sri Lanka.
