by Bharatha Malawaraarachchi Six fire fighters injured severely while dousing a fire were admitted to the Colombo National Hospital around noon yesterday. Three had sustained burn injuries on their hands and faces while the other three had injuries only in the hands." However, all are out of danger, Hospital's Deputy Director (Accident Service) Dr. Anil Jasinghe told the Daily News. The incident had occurred while the fire fighters were returning after dousing a fire at a house in Maradana caused by an explosion of a gas cylinder, Maradana police said. A petrol can had caught fire and the fire fighters sustained burns while attempting to douse it. Hospital sources said the injured may have failed to wear safety gears when fighting the fire. "They will to have to remain in hospital for a few days as the injuries are minor," Dr. Jasinghe added. |
