Ex-soldiers write to President

The Association of Disabled Ex-Service Personnel in a message to the President said that while they were fighting for the country risking their lives, a segment in the society have made financial gains from the war.

"When we lost our limbs and when we saw our comrades die in the battle field we thought we were making those sacrifices for the sake of the country. We do not regret our sacrifices but it is painful to realise that the political hierarchy has gained financially out of our sacrifices.

The Association urged the President to explain her stance on the discovery of millions of rupees in Certificates of Deposit in vaults belonging to the former deputy defence minister.
