Iran-Lanka develop trade ties Lankapuvath - Iran explores the possibility of strengthening the Mutual co-operation in the field of modern technology and medium range products and to establish joint ventures with the Sri Lankan government and the private sector for the greater benefit of both countries. The Economic Section of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran told Lankapuvath. The two countries had agreed to co-operate in organizing specialized trade fairs and to participate in International Fairs held in each other's countries. Action will also be taken to bring a new dimension to Iran-Sri Lanka trade ties. This will be made possible under the memorandum of understanding signed during the sixth session of the Joint Council for Economic Cooperation held in Teheran in July 2000. The economic divisions of the Iranian Embassy is making a fresh start to further strengthen trade ties between Sri Lanka and Iran. A solo trade exhibition organized towards this end was inaugurated at the Exhibition and Convention Centre in Colombo by Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Ravi Karunanayake on the 13th at 10.00 a.m., it will conclude on the 29th. The aim is to create awareness on Iranian potential in turning out high quality products among Sri Lankan public. |
