Paddy production in the Maha season increased by 9.9 percent recovering from the depressed output recorded in the previous Maha season, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka’s GDP estimates for the second quarter of this year. The main reason for the better performance of the agriculture sector has been the return of normal weather conditions.

Lankan companies negotiate investments, joint ventures

The September 19 Investors' Forum at St. Regis Hotel in New York to which Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe led the Sri Lankan Government-private sector delegation has yielded rich dividends with local companies now in the process of negotiating joint ventures, investments in Sri Lanka and technology transfers.
