by Hambantota special correspondent The Minister of Public Administration, Management and Reforms Vajira Abeywardana addressing the inauguration ceremony of the 6th mobile service of the Ministry at St. Mary's College Hambantota on September 28, reiterated that with the success of the peace initiative embarked on by the government under the leadership of the Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, a sweeping change in the public service sector would occur by bringing a wide-range of reforms in the Establishment Code and Financial Regulations within one year. To coincide with the 6th Mobile Service of the Ministry of Public Administration, Management and Reforms, Divisional Secretariat level mobile services were also held in the Hambantota district for one month. Among the 3,714 problems put forward for the DS level mobile services, 1,777 problems were sorted-out at the divisional mobile services and the rest were directed to the main mobile service on this day. Minister Abeywardana said, there are heaps of unsolved problems in the public service sector, under this program a major amount of disputes could be solved. He said, I have made arrangements to fulfil the shortcomings prevailing in the rural hospitals in the Hambantota district on the request of the Minister of Southern Region Development Ananda Kularatna. The Minister said it was the aim of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to build the nation through non-confrontational politics and peaceful cohabitation. Therefore our endeavour was to serve the masses without any barriers. Public sector employees must have an independence to take their own decisions for the benefit of the country and themselves. Therefore we will make way for the public sector employees to take part in the development of the country apart from the regular service, Minister Abeywardana emphasised. Minister of Southern Region Development Ananda Kularatna said the Hambantota district has been identified as the district with the highest number of investment opportunities. Therefore the Hambantota district will be developed at a rapid pace. I have made arrangements to conduct mobile services at the Grama Niladari divisions in the Hambantota district. This will help the people to ease their difficulties in their day-to-day activities, he said. Deputy Chairman of Committee Siri Andrahannadi and SPC member Dr. P.M.B. Cyril also spoke. GA Hambantota district Ananda Amarathunga delivered the welcome speech while the Additional GA Buddapriya Nigamuni proposed the vote of thanks. |
