by Matara Central correspondent The United National Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) is assisting Matara District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MDCCI) to develop micro, small and medium-scale enterprises in the Southern Province and particularly in the Matara District. In order to promote the scheme a "Business Incubator" Project was launched with a UNIDO grant of US Dollars 300,000 and a grant of Rs. 1.5 m from the Southern Development Authority. This project is aimed at facilitating MDCCI members to get training in business methods for trade delegation and to develop partnerships. Under this, MDCCI will conduct seminars and workshops tailor-made to requirements. An institution formed under the project called Ruhuna Business Incubators (Pvt) Ltd recently signed an agreement with the University of Ruhuna to acquire on lease a premises owned by Ruhuna University at the Gam Udawa site at Kamburupitiya to house the Business Incubator. |
