The EPRLF alleged yesterday that a PLOTE Jaffna Municipal Councillor has been abducted by the LTTE on Sunday.

This poses a serious threat to democracy and pluralism, the EPRLF said in a news release.

"The LTTE cannot justify their actions of abducting and assaulting all those who are of diverse opinion and those whom the LTTE do not like. This is a serious infringement on the basic democratic rights of freedom of expression and freedom of movement of an individual," it said.

The EPRLF called upon the Government and the Monitoring Committee to control these irresponsible activities which are against the present peace efforts.
