Sri Lanka fly in for World Cup warm-up JOHANNESBURG, Tuesday (Reuters) - Sri Lanka see their tour to South Africa as vital to their 2003 World Cup chances, skipper Sanath Jayasuriya said on Tuesday. "It's really great to be able to play five one-day internationals in South Africa with the World Cup coming up," he told reporters. The trip also features two tests. The World Cup is to be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Kenya in February and March. Meanwhile, a United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCBSA) release states that Dale Benkenstein will lead South Africa 'A' against Sri Lanka in the 4-day tour match starting at Kimberley on October 25. This will be Sri Lanka's opening match of their tour of South Africa. The captaincy reverted back to Benkenstein after Neil McKenzie led the team in the recent series against Australia whilst Benkenstein was in the senior side playing in the ICC Champions Trophy in Colombo. South Africa 'A': Dale Benkenstein (captain), Neil McKenzie (vice-captain), Jacques Rudolph, Alviro Petersen, Boeta Dippenaar, Justin Ontong, Robin Peterson, Andrew Hall, Steve Elworthy, Thami Tsolekile, Monde Zondeki, Loots Bosman (12th man). Lanka to face powerful South African Rest XI Twenty-three-year-old Ahmed Amla will lead a powerful Rest of South Africa team in a four-day game against the touring Sri Lankans in Benoni from November 1-4. National selection panel convener Omar Henry said: "This is a great opportunity to take a look at some of the players who are on pushing for inclusion in the "A" squad. It also gives the likes of Jon Kent, who played for South Africa last season and Garnett Kruger who has been on the fringes of the national team a chance to re-establish themselves as contenders for the senior team."
